Water & sewer design guidelines

Design guidelines & standard drawings for water & sewer facilities

These guidelines provide developers and builders with a general understanding of the procedures and design criteria for new development or re-development projects in the City of Santa Ana.

All water and sewer improvements must be designed and constructed in accordance with the City of Santa Ana Standard Plans and Specifications, these Design Guidelines, and the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, 2012 edition.

Construction standards

The City of Santa Ana’s Construction Standards are to be used as a guide by developers, engineers, and contractors in the design and installation of all additions, replacements, and modifications to the City’s public water system. It is the intent that these specifications will provide uniformity in materials and installation of piping, valves, fire hydrants, service laterals, meters, and other water system appurtenances. These standards will also provide construction methods and controls to be used by contractors to construct, pressure test, disinfect and place in service all improvements and modifications to the City’s public water system.

Construction Standards for sewer projects can be found here. For all other standard drawings, visit Public Works’ Engineering Services.
