Jerome Park

Volunteering is a work of heart

Join us for a day of volunteering as we celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day together during our first ever Me Encanta Santa Ana event, hosted by the Santa Ana Parks, Recreation & Community Services Agency and Santa Ana Public Works Agency. Help beautify Santa Ana and come together as a community. Work alongside city staff on specialty projects throughout Santa Ana. Take pride and ownership of your City this Earth Day and help embody the spirit of our community. Click here to save the date.

This volunteer day will be open to all participants ages 8 and up, transportation to park locations will be provided the day of from Jerome Park. Volunteers ages 8-12 are required to be accompanied by a registered adult volunteer.

Registered volunteers can expect:

  • 7:30am - 9:00am check in at Jerome Park
    • First ever Me Encanta Santa Ana community shirt
    • Breakfast provided by Title Level Partner, Polly's Pies
  • 9:00am -12:30pm specialty projects (transportation to and from included) :
    • Registration for community projects starts on February 20 and will include projects like park cleanups, painting park facilities, and beautifying our community gardens.
  • 1:00pm - 3:00pm community concert and resource fair at Jerome Park
    • Health & wellness resources
    • Community concert with Sangria the band
    • Thank you lunch donated by Kiwanis Club of Santa Ana

Carl Thornton Park (80 volunteers needed)

Tree planting and restroom painting Help plant new trees at Thornton Park and repaint the main courtyard restroom building Medium difficulty

El Salvador Park (45 volunteers needed)

Garden compost wheelbarrowing Help wheel compost into the garden and fill garden beds. Project involves physically intensive work. High difficulty
El Salvador Community Garden Remove grass from compost, trim plants along fence, other various garden tasks. Medium difficulty
Garden signs and native bee nests Help make garden signs and paint them with garden sayings and art. Use old plastic water bottles to make solitary bee nests with bamboo. Low difficulty

Flower Street bike trail (between Warner and Segerstrom) (100 volunteers needed)

Bike trail landscaping Help us with beautifying and landscaping  the bike trail between Warner and Segerstrom Medium difficulty

Jerome Park (170 volunteers needed)

Jerome block wall and backstop painting Join us in repainting the wall between the Jerome Community Center and the Southwest Senior Center, as well as the backstops across the park.

Project includes working with:

Paint buckets, paint rollers, and brushes.

Jerome community garden maintenance Beautify Jerome Community Garden through a number of activities ranging from:

  • Help wheel compost into the garden and fill garden beds. Project involves physically intensive work.
Medium to high difficulty
Southwest Senior Center Fun Run swag bag prep Pack, organize and assemble bags for the upcoming 2024 Santa Ana Fun Run. Low difficulty
Southwest Senior Center butterfly crafting Help create butterfly art with the OC Fine Arts Studio for the Santa Ana art display at the upcoming Goin’ Native art event. Low difficulty

Pacific Electric Park (50 volunteers needed)

Garden compost wheelbarrowing Help wheel compost into the garden and fill garden beds. Project involves physically intensive work. High difficulty
Pacific Electric community garden maintenance Use hoes to weed walkways, rake weeds and put into trash bags. Turn and harvest compost from garden compost stalls. Other various garden tasks. Medium difficulty
Garden signs and native bee nests Help make garden signs and paint them with garden sayings and art. Use old plastic water bottles to make solitary bee nests with bamboo. Low difficulty

Salgado Community Center (30 volunteers needed)

Pool deck organization Help sort and organize Aquatics supplies and  life vests. Low difficulty
Facility clean-up Help keep the Salgado Community Center clean through various clean-up activities. Low difficulty

Santiago Park (100 volunteers needed)

Park/creek clean up Help keep Santiago Park clean by removing trash and debris from the Creek. Low difficulty
Invasive weed removal/tree planting Help us preserve wildlife by removing invasive weed species across the park and support flora as we plant new trees. Medium difficulty
