Commander Elms is a 25-year veteran of the Santa Ana Police Department. He has worked assignments across all bureaus of the police department in line-level, supervisory, and management positions. Commander Elms currently oversees the Crimes Against Persons and Special Investigations Division, which includes Homicide, Missing Persons, Felonious Assaults, Career Criminal Unit, Vice, Narcotics, and Human Trafficking Units, as well as several Federal Task Forces. Commander Elms holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, and a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Commander Sorenson is a 27-year law enforcement veteran, having served the last 19 years with the Santa Ana Police Department. He previously held various leadership positions in the Patrol Division, Strike Force Unit, Gang Suppression Unit, Training and Human Resources Division, and currently serves as the Metropolitan Division Commander in the Investigations Bureau overseeing the Gang Unit, MET, and Court Liaison.  Additionally, Commander Sorenson has been a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team member for over 20 years and is currently assigned as the SWAT Commander. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership.
