Emerging Lifeguard Leaders training at Jerome Pool

E.L.L. will return next year for spring 2026!

Registration opens January 1, 2026, with program orientation February 24 and 26.

  • Program start date February 24
  • Program sessions will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

All skill levels are welcome to join this free lifeguard readiness program, designed to prepare you for Lifeguard Certification. Sign up using the link or register on-site at Jerome Pool. Build the skills and confidence to become a City of Santa Ana lifeguard.

Program Skills Taught

  • Basic water safety (treading, front crawl, floating on front & back.)
  • Intro to rescue skills
  • Swim stroke refinement (front crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, back stroke.)
  • 10-pound brick tow
  • Diving in deep end
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard 24. course prerequisites

Completed the E.L.L. program and ready to take the next step?

Join our lifeguard training course that provides entry-level knowledge and valuable lifeguarding skills. Attend all course dates consecutively, pass a written exam, and pass an in-water skills exam to obtain a lifeguarding certification.
