On-the-job training
How we help: Jump-start your career with paid work experience
- Get hired—earn while you learn
We place eligible job seekers into On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities. - Bridge the gap with the Transitional Jobs Program
If you need recent work history or time to rebuild your résumé, our Transitional Jobs Program provides short-term, wage-paid positions at public or non-profit worksites so you can gain experience, references, and confidence. - Customize your training plan
Our staff work with you and local employers to tailor duties, mentorship, and skill goals that match high-growth industries in Orange County. - Access wrap-around supports
While you’re in the program, we can help with transportation, tools, uniforms, or other essentials that keep you focused on success. - Transition to permanent employment
As you complete the training period, we assist with résumé updates, interview prep, and direct placement into full-time, unsubsidized roles, often with the same employer.
If you are interested in on-the-job training , please complete the following steps:
- Attend a mandatory WORK Center orientation. Orientations are held every other Monday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. No appointments necessary, walk-ins are welcome. Please check the calendar to identify a date that is convenient for you (www.santa-ana.org/departments/santa-ana-work-center/). The orientation will provide a comprehensive overview and the specific requirements of services funded under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), including job training opportunities.
- Create a CalJOBS account at www.caljobs.ca.gov. CalJOBS is California’s online resource to help job seekers navigate the state’s workforce services. The WORK Center will use CalJOBS to assist you in navigating through WIOA services.
- Upon completion of the orientation and CalJOBS registration, a career advisor will provide instructions on applying for services and scheduling your next steps.
