The City unveiled the new Hometown Heroes street banners to honor active-duty military personnel.
On Monday, May 23, 2022, the City of Santa Ana unveiled our new Hometown Heroes street banners that proudly feature the name and branch of participating service members to acknowledge and thank them for their service to our country. Mayor Vicente Sarmiento, Mayor Pro Tem Phil Bacerra and Councilmember David Penaloza joined families of the service members being honored by this pilot program. The Santa Ana High School color guard assisted in the flag presentation.
Family members and loved ones may nominate an active duty service member from any branch of the military to be honored with a street banner with the service member’s name and photo. The banner will be prominently displayed on one of the City’s streetlight poles along MacArthur Boulevard or Civic Center Drive.
