How will the Main Library Renovation impact access to books and materials?
During Main Library’s closure and renovation, access to Library collections will be limited. Please visit Newhope Library, the Knowledge Mobile or online at the eLibrary for to access to Library collections including books, eResources and all other materials.
Will the Library sell any surplus furniture when the Library closes for construction?
Surplus Library furniture in good and usable condition will be available to purchase online at https://www.govdeals.com/santaana from 7/1/2024 – 7/10/2024
Can I still apply for a library card or renew my existing card during the closure?
Yes. You can sign up for a library card at the Newhope Library branch, any of Knowledge Mobile’s stops, along with El Salvador Community Center, Garfield Community Center, Jerome Center, and Roosvelt-Walk Center. Will the closure affect my ability to access historical research materials?
Library patrons will continue to have access to online databases and research materials. The Santa Ana History room will remain closed during the renovation, but special programming will be conducted periodically. Please call (714) 647-5280 for additional information.
Will the Library offer programs and events during the closure?
Yes. In-person and virtual programs will be available at no cost to the community. In-person programming will be held at the Newhope Library and other locations, including Jerome Park, El Salvador Community Center, Garfield Community Center, Roosevelt-Walker Center, Knowledge Mobile stops. Can I access online resources and e-books while the Main Library is closed?
Yes. The eLibrary will continue to offer eResources, including eBooks, audiobooks, and videos. Click here to visit our eLibrary webpage to view all online resources.
Will I still incur fines for late returns during the closure?
No. The Santa Ana Public Library has been fine-free since 2021. Patrons are still responsible for returning all items they borrow to avoid charges for lost items and materials.
Where can I go to access public computers and printing?
In addition to the Newhope Library, beginning July 1, public computers and printing will be available at various community centers including Jerome, Roosevelt and Garfield Community Center.
Can I still return library materials and pick up holds during the closure?
The Main Library will accept book returns until August 1. The Newhope Library will continue to provide holds, receive book returns and offer a full array of programs and services to the community.
