OCTA announced the OC Streetcar vehicle testing phase starts today, October 16. During vehicle testing, crews will first tow a test streetcar along the track in the Pacific Electric Right-of-Way with a specialized vehicle.
For testing activities for today, October 16, the streetcar will be towed at a slow speed from the Maintenance & Storage Facility and will travel on the tracks in the Pacific Electric Right-of-Way across 5th Street and Fairview Street to the Harbor/Westminster terminus station. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists at 5th Street and Fairview Street.
Eventually during the testing phase, the streetcar will run on power from overhead wires. Testing in city streets is expected to begin before the end of the year.
