“The Jacaranda tree holds a special place in my heart. I grew up in Santa Ana, where these trees bloom every spring, painting the city with their vibrant purple flowers. Whether walking to my art studio, school or simply strolling around the neighborhood, the Jacaranda tree was always in sight. It symbolizes rebirth, wealth, good luck, and wisdom. Despite its beauty, some people dislike the Jacaranda tree because of the mess it creates with its fallen flowers. However, I see the true essence of this iconic flower and want to shift the perspective of those who may not appreciate it. My design, “Evoke the spirit of the Jacaranda,” celebrates the beauty of this representation. Through this design, I hope to remind commuters passing through the South Main Corridor of the Jacaranda tree’s significance. It is a symbol of resilience and a reminder that even after the coldest and darkest of winters, spring always brings renewal and growth.” – Kimberly Duran
