zoning code update community workshop

How to get involved in the Zoning Code Update

The City is listening to residents, property owners, business owners and other stakeholders regarding their ideas on ways to update the Zoning Code. Community engagement focuses on sharing information about zoning and gathering input from stakeholders, which will influence how the Zoning Code is reimagined.

The Zoning Code Update process started in the Spring of 2024 with a series of interviews with community-based organizations, Planning Commissioners, City Council members and a variety of stakeholders involved with design, development, real estate, and property management. The process continued with one of three rounds of workshops. The first round included six workshops that took place in July 2024. See more information about future and past engagement activities below.

Future Events

Future events will include round two of community workshops anticipated to take place in Winter of 2024. During the second round of workshops, participants will have the opportunity to review preliminary draft recommendations for new zoning districts and application processes. In Spring 2025, the City will host the third round of community workshops. At that time, the team will present the draft updated Zoning Code prior to the formal public hearing portion of the decision-making process.

Check back regularly for event dates and additional opportunities to share your input! We hope to see you soon.

Community Workshops

In July 2024, the City hosted six open house-style community workshops, which made up round 1 of three for the project. Each open house covered the same content. Different dates, times, and locations were offered to make the workshops accessible to the broadest segment of the community possible. Nearly 120 people attended the workshops and expressed a variety of opinions with emergent themes including affordable housing, a walkable environment, parking, open space, and noxious uses.

The following buttons open boards from the open house. Click on one of the buttons below to see the boards and to submit your comments.
