COVID-19 Testing

COVID-19 tests are available at pharmacies, clinics and many other locations. Residents can also order at-home tests from the County.

Vaccine Information

The Pfizer vaccine is approved for ages 5 and older. Other COVID-19 vaccines are for age 18 or older. Booster shots have been approved for all adults.

Current Health Rules

The Governor ordered the California economy to reopen on June 15, 2021, and the resumption of most normal business operations and activities. The California Department of Public Health still requires the use of face coverings by vaccinated individuals in some circumstances. Face coverings are required for unvaccinated individuals in indoor public settings and businesses, with some exemptions. New, less restrictive rules on wearing masks in the workplace were announced on June 17, 2021.

Eviction Moratorium and Renter Protections
  • Eviction Moratoriums: The California moratorium on residential evictions ended on September 30, 2021, and the federal residential eviction ban has also ended. The City of Santa Ana did not extend a local eviction moratorium beyond that date, but tenants still have some protections and can apply for rental assistance. The City's moratorium on commercial evictions ended on Sept. 30, 2021.
  • Renter Protections: The Rent Stabilization Ordinance and Just-Cause Eviction Ordinance provide new protections for Santa Ana residents. The ordinances go into effect on Nov. 19, 2021.
City Council Actions and Executive Orders

The Santa Ana City Council declared a local emergency on March 17, 2020, and City Manager Kristine Ridge has signed 12 executive orders related to COVID-19 to protect public health and provide financial assistance to the community.
