Background and experience
Mr. Funk is a Senior Assistant City Attorney for the City of Santa Ana. He advises City departments on legal issues, drafts and reviews transactional documents, and handles litigated matters. His regular assignments include providing counsel to the Public Works Agency and the Planning and Building Agency. He also serves as counsel to the Planning Commission and the Historical Resources Commission. Mr. Funk joined the City in January 2015.
Prior to joining the City, Mr. Funk was Assistant University Counsel for Chapman University. Before that, he served as judicial law clerk to the Hon. Barry Russell, United States Bankruptcy Judge, and the Hon. Suzanne H. Siegel, United States Magistrate Judge. He also was an associate at a bankruptcy boutique firm in Costa Mesa.

Mr. Funk is admitted to practice law in California and before the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Education
Mr. Funk earned a B.A. in History from UCLA in 1991 and a J.D. from Whittier Law School in 1999. During law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Whittier Law Review.
