The City of Santa Ana is proud to announce an exciting partnership with KABOOM!, the national nonprofit committed to ending play space inequity, to build a brand-new playground at Sandpointe Park (3700 S. Birch St.). This project is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to revitalize local parks and create joyful, inclusive places for children and families to play, grow, and connect.
To kick off the project, all Santa Ana residents are invited to a special design day workshop on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Taft Elementary School (500 Keller Ave.). Attendees will have the opportunity to share their ideas and help shape the vision for the new playground—ensuring it reflects the unique spirit and needs of the community. Interested participants are able to register at www.tinyurl.com/SASPDesign2025.
This isn’t the first time Santa Ana has teamed up with KABOOM! In the past, the city has been the proud recipient of several KABOOM!-supported play spaces, reinforcing a shared commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities for local youth. Recently, the Santa Ana Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency (PRCSA) has taken steps to assess and prioritize playground structures across the city in need of revitalization. Sandpointe Park emerged as a top priority due to its aging infrastructure and importance to the surrounding neighborhood.
“We are excited to work with KABOOM! once again and continue our mission of investing in vibrant, safe, and engaging spaces for Santa Ana families,” said representatives from PRCSA. “Community input is essential in this process, and we look forward to hearing from our residents—especially the kids—about what their dream playground looks like.”
Projected community build day is scheduled for Saturday, October 11 at Sandpointe Park.
