California Eviction Protection Extended to Sept. 30; 100% Past-Due Rental Assistance Available

The State of California has extended residential eviction protections through Sept. 30, 2021. Tenants who were financially impacted by COVID-19 are protected from eviction for nonpayment of rent if the tenant provides their landlord with a signed declaration of financial distress. By Sept. 30, 2021, tenants must pay at least 25% of the rent due during the period of Sept. 1, 2020, through Sept. 30, 2021.

Federal Residential Eviction Moratorium Extended through July 31, 2021

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky has signed an extension to the federal moratorium on residential evictions, further preventing the eviction of tenants who are unable to make rental payments. The moratorium that was scheduled to expire on June 30, 2021, is now extended through July 31, 2021. This is intended to be the final extension of the moratorium.

The City of Santa Ana's eviction moratorium has already expired and the City is following the State and Federal eviction moratoriums. The State moratorium is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2021.
