The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency is seeking an individual or couple to live at Carl Thornton Park and serve as a Park Host on a full-time basis. The primary role of a Park Host is to have a visible presence in the park and serve as the ambassador and connect with the surrounding community. Applicants must have a suitable recreational vehicle such as a motor home or travel trailer and a schedule that allows them to be on site seven days a week. This is an unpaid/volunteer position; however, the Park Host will be provided utility hook up and service at no cost.
The State has updated its Dec. 6 Regional Stay-at-Home Order guidelines and is now allowing playgrounds to be open.
Outdoor recreational facilities are allowed only with all users wearing masks and using social distancing. No food, drink or alcohol sales are allowed.
The following sectors were required to close in Orange County as of Dec. 6:
As a result of the state’s Regional Stay-at-Home Order, all Southern California Region counties including Orange County must close the following sectors on 11:59 pm Sunday, December 6:
- Indoor and Outdoor Playgrounds
- Indoor Recreational Facilities

The City of Santa Ana is gearing up for the winter season with the annual installation of the Holiday Tree at Plaza Calle Cuatro. This 30-foot fully decorated tree was put up this week and will shine brightly in the middle of Downtown Santa Ana until Jan. 6, 2021.
To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community, indoor facilities and outdoor recreational spaces may be closed or have modified access until further notice. Outdoor park spaces remain open for passive use.
Due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 in our communities, please follow these simple steps to help our outdoor playgrounds safe, open, and fun.
- Wear a Mask
Everyone 2 years and older should wear a mask covering their face.
- Maintain distance
Maintain a physical distance of 6 feet between individuals from different households and prevent crowding of children.
The City of Santa Ana is happy to announce that the park playgrounds and fitness zones are now open for the public to enjoy.
Park playgrounds and fitness zones were closed in March due to COVID-19. The amenities reopened following State-mandated safety guidelines.
The City of Santa Ana’s Youth Sports Program is offering free Youth Baseball Clinics. The program begins on Monday, October 5 and is open to youth ages 5 to 14.
