The following construction alert for the OC Streetcar was provided by Orange County Transportation Authority:

Santa Ana Boulevard between Mortimer Street and Lacy Street will have loud nighttime work to pour concrete as early as 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26. The street will have a full closure 4 to 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27.

WHEN: Preparation work may start as early as Thursday, January 26, at 10 p.m. The full closure will be in place on January 27 from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.

WHAT: Crews will be pouring concrete around the rail. A temporary full closure will be in place to accommodate the activity. Please be aware crews may begin activities as early as 10 p.m. the previous night to prepare for the concrete pours. This work requires heavy machinery and may be noisy.

WHERE: Santa Ana Boulevard between Mortimer Street and Lacy Street.

WHEN: Preparation work may start as early as Thursday, January 26, at 10 p.m. The full closure will be in place on January 27 from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues. Work activities are weather dependent. If a rain event occurs on the anticipated start date, the work will be delayed until the weather clears. This work may be loud.

Concrete pours need to start in the night/early morning as the steel rails may expand with rising temperatures. Pouring concrete around the rail while the temperatures are lower allows the concrete to dry before the temperatures rise, keeping the rail in place and preventing it from expanding.

We apologize for any inconveniences and appreciate your understanding. For any questions about the OC Streetcar project, please contact OCstreetcar@octa.net or (844) 746-6272.
