Family Crimes Section

The Family Crimes Section seeks to address the cycle of violence that threatens the families and stability of Santa Ana’s diverse communities through the multi-disciplinary approach of:

  • Early Prevention
  • Intervention
  • Suppression
  • Reintegration

Family Crimes Investigators handle cases involving:

  • Domestic violence - physical, mental, or sexual abuse against a spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend
  • Elder abuse - physical, sexual, or economic abuse against an elder (any person 65 years or older) or dependent adult (any person who is between the ages of 18 and 64, who has physical or mental limitations which restrict his or her ability to carry out normal activities or to protect his or her rights)
  • Child abuse - physical, sexual, and mental abuse of children (any person under 18 years)
  • Sexual assault - including rape and indecent exposure
  • Registration and monitoring of sex registrants (Megan's Law)
  • Missing person - including children and adults
