Commander Robert Rodriguez


Commander Robert Rodriguez assumed the responsibilities of Executive Officer in March 2019.   He has over 20 years of law enforcement experience.  Rodriguez began his career as a patrol officer at the Los Angeles Police Department in 1996.  He joined the Santa Ana Police Department in 2000, where he worked patrol, SWAT, and Strike Force. In 2009, Rodriguez was promoted to Corporal and was assigned to the Training Division. 

In 2014, Rodriguez promoted to Sergeant.  As a sergeant, he worked patrol, SWAT, and Internal Affairs.  In 2018, Rodriguez was promoted to Commander and served as the graveyard Patrol Watch Commander, before his assignment to the Chief’s Office. 

Prior to his career in law enforcement, Rodriguez served six years in the United States Marine Corps.  Rodriguez has a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Chapman University.  Rodriguez is also a graduate of the Supervisory Leadership Institute and the Safe Communities Institute at USC.
