Through the Special Event Sponsorship Program, Councilmember Sarmiento has sponsored various events in Santa Ana. Recipients of these funds include the following:
Summer Night Lights
Summer Night Lights is a free health and wellness program for the community. The event hosts a variety of adult and youth programs.
Orange County Pride
The annual Orange County Pride Parade and Festival creates a community for LGBTQ people through education, advocacy, and celebration. This event brings more than 20,000 people to Downtown Santa Ana.
Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center
The OCCTAC provides innovative, artistic, educational, and therapeutic programs that inspire and transform children, at-risk youth, adults, and their families to fulfill their highest potential. The organization provides a safe-haven for many isolated families. Reach out to under-served communities.
Hispanic 100 Foundation Youth and Government
The Youth and Government program empowers and encourages students in the Santa Ana community. Through the program, students develop public speaking skills, critical thinking, and increase their own intelligence.
YMCA of Orange County
The YMCA hosts a summer program that offers every youth in Santa Ana swim lessons and recreational sports activities.
Centro Cultural de Mexico's Dia del Nino Festival
Dia del Nino is a traditional Mexican holiday that recognized children, celebrates their importance in society, and promotes their well-being. The 2019 celebration was free to the community and offered art experiences for children and families, including art-making, performances, and contests.
2019 Women's March with Planned Parenthood of Orange County
On January 19th, diverse communities demonstrated unity and solidarity while marching together for women's rights in Santa Ana.
