Santa Ana residents impacted by COVID-19 who are behind on rent and facing eviction can apply for up to 12 months’ rent (which includes up to six months’ rental arrears since April 1, 2020) and receive free legal and mediation services starting February 1, 2021.
The pandemic has hit many Santa Ana families and individuals hard. The City’s emergency rental assistance programs (CARES for Tenants and CARES for Landlords) combined with the State’s eviction moratorium have helped renters stay in their homes, but additional support is needed to prevent families from eviction and homelessness.
In response, the City of Santa Ana is launching Santa Ana’s Vital Eviction Solution, the “SAVES” Program. The “SAVES” Program is a homelessness prevention program for qualified very-low income households in the City of Santa Ana who have been: 1) impacted by COVID-19; 2) notified in writing that their right to occupy their current housing or living situation will be terminated; and 3) who are at risk of homelessness.
