COVID-19 ADVISORY MESSAGE

The City of Santa Ana Planning Division is dedicated to caring for the health and well-being of our customers, employees, and our community.  In an abundance of caution, we have adjusted the way we provide all development related services by exercising healthy distancing and best practices as recommended by the CDC.  We appreciate your flexibility and patience during this unprecedented public health crisis. Public counter assistance and services will be handled by appointment only; phone, email, and teleconferencing are also available.

PUBLIC COUNTER (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY) - Major Submittals

  • Landscape plans
  • Neighborhood reviews
  • Lot mergers
  • Lot line adjustments
  • Commercial cannabis applications

New minor projects, such as:

  • New single-family homes
  • Accessory dwelling units (ADUs)
  • Major additions
  • Major commercial/industrial façade remodels

Please email PlanningDepartment@santa-ana.org to schedule an appointment for development projects and discretionary action applications, such as:

  • New projects containing over 2,500 square feet
  • Subdivisions
  • CUPs, Variances, Minor Exceptions
  • Zone changes
  • General plan amendments
  • Historic resources commission applications

 

PLAN DROP OFF AREA - Counter Application and Minor Project Submittals

Located adjacent to the City Hall Ross Annex Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and do not require an appointment or a counter visit.   Please do not leave payment with these applications. Your applications will be taken in after 48 hours and reviewed for completeness, after which a planner will contact you to arrange payment options.

Resubmittals for minor projects, such as:

  • New single-family homes
  • Accessory dwelling units (ADUs)
  • Major residential additions
  • New tenant improvement submittals (non-residential)
  • Major commercial façade projects

 

Inspections for Planning clearance are currently being performed virtually. To schedule a Planning inspection, please email PlanningDepartment@santa-ana.org and your request will be assigned to a planner.

 

Public Meetings

  • Planning Commission information will continue to be posted online at City Meetings.

  • Historic Resources Commission meeting have been cancelled until further notice.

  • Zoning Administrator Hearings have been cancelled until further notice.

  • NIP Neighborhood Association non-essential meetings have been cancelled until further notice.  Staff will work with Neighborhood Associations and Comlink leadership to determine essential meetings and utilize virtual meeting protocols & CDC safe distancing guidelines.
