Field Operations

The mission of the Field Operations Bureau is to ensure the safety and security of all people in Santa Ana.

Our mission is accomplished by providing responsive and professional public safety services to the community, utilizing a problem solving approach in partnership with community members through prevention, suppression, and apprehension strategies.

During 2004, the Field Operations Bureau, which serves as the field services delivery backbone of the Santa Ana Police Department, continued to live up to its commitment with characteristic hard work and dedication.  The men and women of this bureau place themselves in harm's way, each and every day, to keep residents, visitors, and businesses safe.  These same personnel utilized a problem solving approach to eliminate or reduce the impact on entrenched community problems.

Some notable recent accomplishments of the Field Operations Bureau include:

  • The formation of a Community Relations Team (CRT), which reached out to the community with neighborhood meetings, presentations, and programs, designed to strengthen community/police relations.  The CRT has become a highly sought-after group whose accomplishments far surpassed our initial vision for the project.
  • The Northeast District began the implementation of the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program; a unique three-phase certification program designed to help tenants, owners, and managers of rental property keep drugs and other illegal activity off their property.  The program is solution oriented and designed to be easy, yet effective, in reducing the incidence of crime on rental property.  The program's approach ensures the crime prevention goal while maintaining an approach that is very tenant-friendly.

The Field Operations Bureau is composed of two divisions:

VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS

The Training Division also coordinates two volunteer programs for the department.  These programs truly exemplify the spirit and value of our partnership with the community.  Our volunteers play a significant role in providing quality support services to the police department, as well as to the community.  The volunteer programs include:
