Youth and Family Master Plan Phase I
The City is interested in getting feedback from the public on the draft of the City’s Youth and Family Master Plan Phase I. Feedback is appreciated by Tuesday, September 15, 2009. The plan will be presented to the City Council at the work study session on Monday, September 21, 2009.
The City Council approved a resolution calling for Phase I of a Youth and Family Master Plan in October 2007. A Request for Proposal process was administered and Ersoylu Consulting was selected in June 2008 as the consultant to support the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency in producing this plan.
This plan is a response to the challenges of obesity and gang activity facing the city’s youth with an emphasis on a family and prevention approach. A twelve month planning process involved focus groups, surveys, and evaluation of resources and programs available to young people and families. It is fortunate that the focus of the plan falls very much in line with the ongoing efforts of The California Endowment initiative focused on making Central Santa Ana into a healthy community by 2020.
