Summer in the City 2011
The summer of 2011 delivered another fun-filled season by the Santa Ana Public Library and the Parks and Recreation Agency! While participating in a number of exciting summer activities, kids, teens, and adults exercised their minds and their bodies. Library patrons took a trip around the world through books with the successful summer reading program. Residents celebrated milestones, learned about animals, and showcased their talents at our community centers. Volunteers also donated hours of their time to give back to the community. Take a look at our activity report and multimedia recap to experience summer all over again!

Recreation Arcade was 25-day program in conjunction with the Summer Day Camp that encouraged and assisted kids to incorporate active play and healthy nutrition into their daily lives. The program had a “video game” theme and featured fun and interactive curriculum, workshops, and fitness games. The kids were trained daily with workouts on a boot camp-style obstacle course; they had a great time working as teams in relay races. The program also provided guidelines for healthy living through BMI evaluations and cooking tips for balanced diets. All participants had the same goal: acquire as many points as possible during the length of the program. Participants earned points by actively participating and redeemed points earned for incentives at the end of the program.
