Education is a primary goal within our City vision and fire prevention education is no exception. The Fire Prevention Bureau coordinates most of the education efforts.

They speak to both the residential and business communities. Our message to the community is extended primarily through schools, neighborhood association meetings, and public events. We serve our businesses by offering site-specific presentations for their employees in their efforts to maintain effective fire safety programs.

Suppression accomplishes this through station visitation and annual inspection activities. The firefighters add an exciting element in encouraging young people to participate in their community and strive for a good education

Certain building uses deserve special attention due to their amounts of flammable materials, the presence of ignition sources, large assemblies of people, the inability of people to evacuate in a timely manner, or large amounts of hazardous materials. State-licensed facilities and high-rise buildings are two such special uses.
