Our goal is to enforce the various codes and standards fairly, responsibly, effectively, and efficiently.  This Division consists of Fire Safety Specialists that are responsible for State mandated inspections, including board and care facilities, day care facilities, hospitals, schools, detention facilities, and high rise buildings. They also inspect all new construction and fire protection systems.  The suppression crews rely on them as resources to assist in more complex district inspection issues. The responsibilities of required fire code permitting and citation issuance belong within this Division.

The ultimate goal is always compliance with little or no punitive action. The inspectors assist businesses in meeting their economic goals by encouraging early discussion on potential future changes. This team works very closely with various other city agencies such as the police, public works, building, and planning departments. More importantly they serve as the nexus between plan review and the progress of any given project. Their focus is that of fire safety for the business environment and the community.
