The Clerk of the Council and staff are committed to provide quality public service, efficient use of City resources, and the preservation of Santa Ana's legislative history.

Mission Statement :
To facilitate the legislative policymaking process, to accurately record and validate the proceedings of the City Council, to provide for timely and thorough access to the public record, to conduct the City's elections as required by the Charter and the citizens of Santa Ana, and to carry out responsibilities mandated by the Fair Political Practices Act.

Office Hours :
The Office of the Clerk of the Council is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
(closed every Friday)

Prepare City Council Agendas. Post agendas and public notices of meetings and adjournments.

Record and prepare Council Meeting Minutes (Videos, Minutes and Agendas Archive).

Maintain digital indexes of Council actions and public records.

Elections

Elections

Conduct all City Elections and maintain a historical record.

Filing Officer of campaign contributions, expenditures and conflicts of interest statements, and maintain all statistical data required pursuant to state mandates.

Maintain precinct information, and provide maps and instructions to candidates.

Administration

Administration

Coordinate appointments to the City's citizen advisory boards, post a list of vacancies, and administer Oaths of Office.

Update and distribute copies of the Municipal Code to City Departments, and manage inventory and sales of code books and supplements.

Manage the retention and destruction of official documents in compliance with the Citywide Retention Schedule.

Maintain custody of the City Seal.

Accept claims and subpoenas filed with the City.
