Downtown Façade Improvement Rebate Program
The Santa Ana Redevelopment Agency has developed a program that enables businesses building owners to receive a cash
rebate for improvements made to the exterior of buildings. Improving the appearance of buildings to help stimulate business and
revitalize the community.
Properties located within the Downtown Façade Improvement Area are eligible to receive a cash rebate for improvements up to
50% of total project cost, not to exceed $75,000, including City permits. Rebates can exceed the limit of total project cost at the
discretion and approval of the Agency Board. Eligible improvements include those that enhance the appearance of the building’s
frontage. Some examples include new signage and awnings, as well as restoration of building materials and architectural features
involving steam cleaning, painting, elimination/alternatives to bars on windows, anti-graffti measures, as well as decorative and
security exterior lighting. In addition, the City offers free removal of old signs and awnings with agency’s approval.
