Background and Experience
Sandra Schwarzmann is a Senior Assistant City Attorney for the City of Santa Ana. Ms. Schwarzmann represents the City in civil litigation. She joined the City in March 2014 after 17 years of private litigation practice.

While in private practice, Ms. Schwarzmann represented the cities of Yorba Linda, Azusa, Lake Forest, Los Alamitos, Claremont, and the Santa Maria Water District, among other public entities. She has litigated contract disputes, real estate issues, personal injury cases, construction defect matters, and a multi-million dollar property damage case. Ms. Schwarzmann's trial experience includes a lengthy jury trial while representing the plaintiff which resulted in an award of a half-million dollars in compensatory damages, plus punitive damages. She likewise successfully defended the City of Yorba Linda from a million-dollar personal injury claim.

Additionally, Ms. Schwarzmann has valuable appellate experience having written numerous successful appeals to federal appellate courts and the California Supreme Court.

Ms. Schwarzmann is admitted to practice law in California, in the United States District Courts of the Central and Southern Districts as well as before the United States of Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.

Ms. Schwarzmann received her Juris Doctor from Berkeley School of Law, University of California in 1996. While in law school, she was the Symposium Editor for the La Raza Law Journal and hosted a two-day symposium entitled, "Housing Injustice." The following year, Ms. Schwarzmann was the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the La Raza Law Journal. During law school, she was a surumer extern for Honorable the Arthur Gilbert, Justice of the Second Appellate District, Division 6. Ms. Schwarzmann obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1993.
