Budget Stabilization
The City also renegotiated labor contracts to defer or eliminate raises, implemented furloughs, and increased employee contributions on benefits and retirement. However, despite all these cost cutt ing measures, the City currently faces a projected structural deficit of about $28-30 million.
To meet this challenge, the City has examined its financial position, evaluated additional cost reduction measures and assessed revenue enhancement options. The immediate goal is to stabilize the budget and begin to build a healthy financial future. The options available are difficult ones; however, the proposed budget balancing solutions aim to make the best and most effective use of local assets and minimize the impact to residents and business.
Throughout this process, the City will engage residents at their neighborhood association meetings and in community forums. We will also provide timely and relevant information on the City's web page and other communication channels.

Only by coming together as a community will we be able to make the difficult decisions that will move Santa Ana towards a fiscally sound and sustainable future.
